PostNet FranchiseNew global partner underscores power of PostNet brand services in international markets

While PostNet is well known among the businesses we serve every day, the franchise also has a stellar reputation among international giants. Just recently, Aramex, a leading global provider of logistics and comprehensive transportation solutions, became PostNet’s newest international master franchisee.

Aramex acquired the master franchise for the PostNet brand in South Africa. The $16.5 million deal makes Aramex services, which include international and domestic express shipping and its e-commerce business “Shop and Ship,” available across all PostNet locations in South Africa.

With 287 centers serving more than 55,000 customers daily, the PostNet franchise is South Africa’s largest privately owned counter network in the document and parcel industry. Under terms of the deal, each South African PostNet center will continue to be owned and operated by its respective franchisee.

“Aramex’s significant acquisition is a testament to the superior digital printing, marketing and logistics services PostNet provides businesses around the world,” says PostNet co-founder Steve Greenbaum. “In the past two decades, PostNet has grown into one of South Africa’s most trusted and respected brands. We are proud of that reputation and of the growth we have achieved on the international front.”

In South Africa in particular, the government has targeted the small, medium and micro enterprise sector as an important economic driver. Several programs exist to help small businesses — including potential franchise owners. For example, the country’s Community Entrepreneurship and Business Initiative aims to develop the business and financial capacity of entrepreneurs and small business owners in the country.

International business has been one of the key drivers of PostNet’s growth. The PostNet franchise is in 10 countries, including bustling markets in Brazil and Venezuela, and continues to seek partners to bring its brand to more countries. Its partnerships with international logistics companies and its expertise at the retail level allow PostNet to meet consumer needs anywhere.

“Internationally I see a tremendous amount of opportunity. We already have over 400 additional locations internationally and have some great international partners,” adds co-founder and PostNet CAO Brian Spindel. “Longer term, there is no reason we couldn’t have well over 1,000 units internationally.”

It’s an ambitious plan that is supported by expected growth in some of the key industries where PostNet provides critical business services. One example: The global digital printing is forecast to grow 250% of its 2013 value by 2024. PostNet owners are well positioned to meet that demand. PostNet Neighborhood Business Centers offer local, professional, one-on-one service and support to the small and medium-sized businesses that require numerous digital printing projects.
